Greg Marchand, owner of Automotive Aftermarket Training Inc., has over 20 years of unique experience in the automotive industry. Greg began his career as an independent shop owner in Cambridge, Vermont. As the owner of Cambridge Carworks he specialized in maintenance and repair of European Import vehicles. After earning an undergraduate degree in Automotive Technology, Greg was employed by a local Toyota dealership where he became a certified Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician. During his employment with the dealership Greg served as a flat-rate line technician, team leader, and assistant service manager.
In the mid-nineties Greg moved on from the retail world to become an instructor at New Hampshire Community Technical College, in Stratham, NH. As the Toyota Technical Education Nework (TTEN) program coordinator he worked to renew the automotive program and bolster the relationship between the school and Toyota. Greg’s work at the college included development, design, and delivery of curriculum, along with ensuring a positive co-op experience for students.
Greg’s work with the college attracted Toyota’s attention and in 1997 Toyota Motor Sales, USA invited Greg to join their Boston Region office. During a 12 year career with Toyota Greg served as a Field Technical Specialist (FTS), Service Training Specialist (STS), and Parts and Service Development Consultant. As an FTS, Greg’s responsibilities were to provide troubleshooting and diagnostic help to Toyota’s dealer network, as well as conduct in-dealer training activities. While as an STS, Greg not only delivered written and hands-on curriculum as part of Toyota’s technical training program, but also worked to develop new curriculum and improve existing curriculum to provide the best possible experience for technicians. As a Development Consultant, Greg worked with dealership parts and service departments to increase service retention, customer satisfaction, and develop employee training programs.
Throughout his career Greg has been passionate about education and the health of the automotive industry. As a shop owner and Toyota Master technician Greg worked with local high school and college students interested in careers in the automotive industry. While teaching at the college, and later as a high school instructor, Greg worked to expose students to the wide array of potential careers available in the automotive industry as well as to provide technical education to local repair shops. Greg firmly believes that the health of the automotive industry is partially dependant on a strong, vibrant, and well-trained aftermarket sector.
Greg holds an undergraduate degree in Automotive Technology and an MBA in Organizational Sustainability. Greg is currently certified as an ASE Master Technician, Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician, and an ATTP Certified Instructor.
